Sir, - With respect to Michael Healy (June 9th), I think it is he who misses the point.
I am all for enjoying music in relaxed and informal surroundings, but not if those conditions are unsuitable for the performance of that music.
Poor acoustics, distorted amplification and front of house problems do nothing for a wonderful work such as the Elgar Violin Concerto.
In my view they do a positive disservice to that very audience whose welfare Mr Healy is so anxious to defend. - Yours, etc.,
