Sir, – I am indeed flattered that Peadar de Barra (March 21st) should attribute to me the letter (March 18th) congratulating John Waters on his Opinion (March 15th).
Would that this were so, but I have to concede authorship of the letter of March 18th, as was then published, to my dear brother Joe with whom of course I fully agree, regarding his stated views, with admiration and familial pride. With their evident command of linguistic philosophy, John Waters and each of the contributors to this debate are very much in line with Goldsmith's village schoolmaster who, with their "words of learned length and thundering sound" can still "amaze (us) gazing rustics ranged around". O si sic omnes . – Yours, etc,
JOHN KEHOE,
Roselawn Road,
Castleknock, Dublin 15.
