Sir, - In their eagerness to be elected President, some of the candidates are promising innovations which, if introduced, would be demeaning to that high office. Aras an Uachtarain should not be turned into a three-ring circus. Nor should the President be accessible to every crank in the land on demand.
We are entitled to have a President who will represent us with dignity at home and abroad and not embarrass us with behaviour inappropriate to a head of state. - Yours, etc.,
