Sir, – After almost 15 years of reports, the present Government is finally on the verge of dealing with alcohol abuse as a public health issue, a commendable first step but a very small step when you look at what is not being addressed.
The big issue of sports sponsorship is untouched, minimum pricing is still being challenged and the issue of compelling retailers to separate alcohol from other products has been put on the long finger.
The sad reality is that the culture change we have seen in the past 30 years is now escalating at a rate much faster than the speed at which our Government is prepared to address it. – Yours, etc,
