Sir, - I read (September 5th) about the sorry state of professional rugby in England. May I suggest that they play with a "crystal ball" instead of an oval ball.
I wonder if William Webb Ellis would have picked up that ball if he realised what the consequences would be over loo years on. Let's put the money back in the boots, it was a far easier way of running the game of rugby. - Yours, etc.,
