Madam, - I work in an office on Westland Row, Dublin. Every few minutes for most of the last week, random people connected with the EU have been driven past my window escorted by gardaí with sirens blaring at full power.
I understand the importance of sirens at intersections, so that the VIPs breaking traffic lights don't get driven into (which, no doubt, would be profoundly embarrassing to all concerned). However, I don't see the necessity to keep this up for the length of Westland Row (and, presumably, other roads on the route from the airport to Government Buildings). All that really serves to do is distract those of us not lucky enough to be chauffeured through the city. - Yours, etc.,
RICHARD BANNISTER,
Sir John Rogerson's Quay,
