THE STATE OF KILLINEY HILL

Sir, - Oh how I endorse Tom Farrell's letter (February 25th) on the filth around Killiney Beach.

We walk Killiney Hill at least three times a week come rain or shine. This has, down the years, offered a pleasant vista of well-mown lawns, clean paths, majestic timbers and unparalleled views.

But for the past decade the county council has failed in its maintenance of this historic venue. Hayfields replace lawns; there are filthy paths of mud, dog poo, nettles and outstretched brambles. Fallen branches block bridle ways and graffiti emblazon the various monuments.

Please let us not have gone past the point of no return. - Yours, etc.,
