Madam, - I'm surprised that Miriam Lord thinks the Taoiseach needs any help to overcome what she terms "a dark period in his linguistic life" ("Dirty politics and fat cats finally brought to book", The Irish Times, October 25th). Given that he has demonstrated over the years that he is the greatest living exponent of Voltaire's dictum "One great use of words is to hide our thoughts", I would have thought that the last thing he requires is A Plain English Guide to Politics. - Yours, etc,
