Sir, – David Flynn (Letters, April 9th), invites us to imagine a world where male employees are free to wear both suits and smart casual attire to work while female employees are required at all times to wear formal business attire. I'd far rather imagine a world where, on average, women in Ireland don't earn 13.9 per cent less per hour than men ("Despite some improvements in work, women are still lagging behind on pay", March 4th). I, for one, would be more than happy to wear a tie to the office in that alternative modern world. Yours, etc,
ANN-MARIE OLDEN,
