Sir, - There has been tremendous fuss about the fact that voting on the Referendums on Northern Ireland and the Amsterdam Treaty will take place on the same day. The Government has been severely criticised for this on the grounds that the voters will be confused. What an insult! There have been adequate provisions for people to find all the information they require. Leaflets have been posted through doors, the full texts are available on the internet and various centres around Dublin and elsewhere. The fact that the voting takes place on the same day makes it more convenient for voters and encourages people to vote on both referendums. It is an insult to the intelligence of the Irish public to suggest that we aren't capable of coping with two issues on one day. Please give us more credit. - Yours, etc., Melanie Dodds,
North Circular Road, Dublin 7.
