Madam, - The "Your Health" series was welcome and informative, but also inadequate and frustrating.
For instance, the article on heart problems advised brisk walking every day and the article on osteoporosis advised weight-bearing exercises, eating rich dairy products and oily fish.
What if you have high cholesterol and cannot have those items in your diet and are also on a long waiting-list for a hip or knee replacement? What do you eat in order to protect the health of your bones and how do you replace that "brisk walk" or those weight-bearing exercises which will go some way towards ensuring the health of both bones and heart?
Is there any medical person out there who sees the whole man or woman in the street? - Yours, etc.,
M. MacSWEENEY, Dublin Road, Drogheda, Co Louth.
