Sir, – Billy Ryle, I salute you (May 30th). As a fellow spud-lover, I know how brave you are standing up to the modern, politically correct onslaught of advocates of pasta and rice. I rarely come across baked or roast potatoes in a restaurant these days, and it is such a loss. I resent going into restaurants in my own country with no potatoes on offer other than "the chip", England's contribution to world cuisine. – Yours, etc,
