Sir, – Michael Commane writes, "Maybe we need a real conversation about what it means to break bread in communion with our fellow Christians" ("The bread of life, the centre of our faith", Thinking Anew, August 15th). I will soon be 75 and my very best friends have been people who believe in the real presence. As a Methodist, my belief is real in that I believe in the presence.
If my friendship with other Christians can be real in this life, surely a loving God will not separate us when we enter into his glorious “presence”. – Yours, etc,
