Third-level 'feeder' schools

Madam, - I looked with great interest at your statistics concerning "feeder schools" to third level

Madam, - I looked with great interest at your statistics concerning "feeder schools" to third level. I am glad to see your more inclusive approach, which recognises Queen's University Belfast, the University of Ulster and other UK institutions of higher learning.

Is it not strange that only 38 students from the Republic went to Queens University Belfast, and only 85 students went to University of Ulster in 2007? I would be most interested to discover the figure for Northern Ireland students travelling south to study.

Is there any possibility of your researchers going one step further and looking at feeder schools on the whole of the island of Ireland? This would give a more comprehensive, all-island approach following the stated desire of Dáil and Assembly for increased cross-border relationships. - Yours, etc,

VERA HUME, Rockbarton Road, Salthill, Galway.
