Sir, - I was delighted to read Fintan O'Toole's piece in today's Irish Times (October 18th). He vocalised my sentiments exactly concerning the misguidedness of our legislators and their aides. This article, along with John Waters's piece attacking the unnecessary aggrandisement of ministers and civil servants, shows how the achievement of power inflates egos and makes the possessors of these egos determined to impress upon us, hoi polloi, their supposed greatness. - Yours, etc., Molesworth Street, Dublin 2.
