Sir, – US president Donald Trump threatens North Korea with "fire and fury like the world has never seen" (Front page, August 9th).
These words seem to be a euphemism for an all-out nuclear strike against the civilian population of North Korea.
The president of the United States has not the right either morally or under international law to launch a nuclear attack against the civilian population of North Korea thus bringing the world to the brink of nuclear annihilation.
It is time for the allies of the United States to intervene with President Trump to stop this madness. – Yours, etc,
