Sir, – GAA commentary and punditry on RTÉ needs to be reviewed. Joanne Cantwell is a superb host and Dessie Dolan and Kevin McStay are great for run-of-play commentary. However Pat Spillane and Colm O’Rourke need to be shown a red card for their stale, often partisan and outdated approach.
Last Saturday Spillane shouted his viewpoint at Sean Cavanagh and incorrectly stated it was a poor game . . . because Kerry weren’t getting their way. Bias and dogmatic shouting doesn’t make for good viewing for the neutral.
RTÉ needs to shake things up with some new, younger blood. There’s plenty of other men and women with (and without) All-Ireland Medals (try Dublin) who could offer a new and fresh perspective to GAA football analysis and commentary. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – Does two weeks give RTÉ enough time to teach its GAA analysts how to pronounce Tyrone (Tír Eoghain)? We live in hope. – Yours, etc,
