Sir, - "It is now payback time. Let us be willing, as a mature member nation, to play our full part militarily in the protection of Europe and put an end to our illogical neutrality," writes F. Cronin (June 10th).
Now where did we hear those sentiments before? Could it have been about a century ago when an earlier Union was exhorting us to the defence of small nations and a "Great" war to end all wars?
Such Blimpish jingoism is often spouted by those who are personally "mature" enough to be unlikely to have to man the front lines, but should be mature enough to know better.
