Madam, - May I compliment Carol Coulter on her article of August 31st on the Oireachtas censure hearing of Brian Curtin? Now that the Oireachtas is about to reconvene, the Government has woken up to the harsh reality that this case is not going away. In order not to waste money and Oireachtas time on a case that cannot be won, the Government should take the course suggested by your Legal Affairs Correspondent and settle the case, no matter how unjust that may seem.
However the Government also must urgently develop a proper system of dealing with judicial misconduct so that a constitutional crisis does not develop each time a case of judicial misconduct arises. - Yours, etc.,
DAVID GARRAHY, Doolin, Co Clare.
