Total immersion

Sir, – In response to Anita MacAleavey's question (June 3rd) "Am I the only one who found the banner at the VHI Dublin mini-marathon "Run like you've left the immersion on" sexist?", I sincerely hope she is!

It put a smile on my face when I really needed it after trudging up the dual carriageway in the wind and rain. I was still smiling by the time I reached Donnybrook.

In any case, who says it’s only women who leave the immersion on and worry about it ? – Yours, etc,

Sir, – If men were permitted to enter, then I’m sure they would find a way take offence too. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – At the risk of landing myself in hot water, may I suggest that the “sexist” exhortation (obviously coined by a man) was meant to encourage the participants to run on all cylinders and to discourage them from lagging behind? – Yours, etc,
