Sir, – I write having read John Bowman on Noel Whelan's Fianna Fáil: A Biography of the Party(Weekend Review, December 10th). Bowman states there could be such toxicity to Fianna Fáil that there may be an aversion to reading about its history. He is perfectly right in that assumption: I and past generations know only too well the "party history" as, father and son I have lived it and now as a grandfather I despair in the shadow of its last 30 years of treachery, lies and corruption.
In a week when a British leader took a Churchill-like stance, so sadly lacking in the body politic of this nation, the fact is that we, the people, deserve all that is unfolding: the time has come for outsiders to rule over us once again. Yes, history repeats, sadly so. – Yours, etc,
