Sir, - Your edition of February 21st carries a public notice from Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council announcing the introduction of "pay and display" parking in six areas under its jurisdiction - Dun Laoghaire, Blackrock, Booterstown, Glasthule, Monkstown and Seapoint.
One wonders whether it is coincidental that all of these areas fall within coastal part of the jurisdiction corresponding to the former Borough of Dun Laoghaire, the relatively efficient administrative entity that was swallowed up by the creation of this shambolic and dysfunctional monolith.
Certainly looking, inter alia, at the traffic chaos that has made the centre of Dun Laoghaire a virtual "no-go" area for both vehicles and pedestrians for over two years, one may be forgiven for thinking that the local bureaucracy is pursing a vendetta against business people struggling to survive in its administrative centre. - Yours, etc.,
ADRIAN J. ENGLISH,
Kilcolman Court,
