Sir, – The photograph accompanying your article about Whyte’s auction next Saturday, entitled “Postcards from the past” (Fine Art & Antiques, June 6th), shows Grafton Street in the early 20th century, apparently “with shops, trams and carriages”. Two motor cars (horseless carriages?) are shown, but no other carriage, and there is not a tram in sight. This is scarcely odd, however, since no trams ever ran in Grafton Street. – Yours, etc,
PC THOMPSON,
Worcester,
England.
