Madam, - Your correspondent E. Kavanagh (December 31st) finds it "incomprehensible and reprehensible that in a capital city like Dublin the citizens have no public transport of any kind on Christmas Day".
What would the writer do in Waterford, capital of the sunny South-East?
Waterford TD and Minister for Transport Martin Cullen announced just before Christmas that work on the Waterford City Bypass, "the most significant Waterford infrastructural project ever" would commence in April 2006.
Meanwhile, Waterford remains the only city in Ireland without public transport of any kind on Sundays and Bank Holidays throughout the year. Progress? - Yours, etc,
