Madam, – Just when we thought the delusions of the Irish people could get no worse we have our failed Taoiseach being compared to Jesus Christ by Irene Houlihan (November 24th).
Indeed we are shouting “Crucify him, crucify him” because that is exactly what he has done to the ordinary men, women and children of this country with his political philosophy of greed and corruption in the tradition of his predecessors in Fianna Fáil.
I note that Ms Houlihan resides, like Mr Cowen, in what was once known as the King’s County. Irony indeed as the rest of us have to do with the crumbs from the royal table of King Herod and the establishment parasitical pharisees. – Yours, etc,
Madam, – I confess to having almost choked on my cornflakes as I read John Nugent’s comments (November 25th) applauding Messrs Cowen and Lenihan for their courage “in these critical times”. Brian Cowen was our chief financial officer when most of Ireland’s woes were created. His inattention and laissez-faire attitude now has our country on its knees.
I note that Mr Nugent writes from a retirement village – my only consolation is that Mr Cowen will soon be in one of his own. – Yours, etc,
Madam, – Irene Houlihan’s letter (November 25th) comparing Brian Cowen’s treatment to a crucifixion was offensive to Christians everywhere; Christ sacrificed himself. – Yours, etc,
