Madam, - Congratulations on the "State of the Union" (March 27th) supplement. It put into an excellent historical context what is in my view the greatest enterprise the human race has ever embarked on. It should be read by the younger generation for whom the principles which drove the founding fathers will not have the same resonance as for those of an older vintage.
Patrick Smyth's article on the gutter press brought back memories of many debates with the "Little Englanders" during my years resident in that fair land. Here's to the next 50 years.
