Sir, - In response to the letter by Mr Ray Monahan (February 11th), Conservation Volunteers Ireland would like to commend his accurate assessment of the situation regarding trees in Ireland today. However, he should not be too despondent, since organisations such as ours are working to redress the balance, and not just for the Millennium.
