Sir, – To be willing to serve and die in the service of your country is one of the bravest and most honourable things anyone can do.
This is what transgender soldiers, airmen, marines and sailors are prepared to do. They serve with pride.
Sadly, for whatever reason, US president Donald Trump does not seem to grasp this fact, and instead of strengthening the US military Mr Trump has weakened it by banning those who show courage not just in the theatre of battle but in the choices they have made in life (Suzanne Lynch, World News, July 27th). – Yours, etc,
