Sir, Kathy Sheridan's article on television soaps was nothing less than excellent. I earnestly hope that Irish television producers will attend to what she has written. It will be sad if they do not. Television is a most powerful medium; surely it is desirable that it should be put to the ad vantage of the people of the nation?
Something surely is awry when an episode of Glen roe at 8.30 pm on Sunday evening, watched by over a million people, gives a sense of revulsion, which is what was experienced recently. We would like creativity by all means, but creativity that would enrich our lives and those of our families. Is that beyond expectation?
