Two easy cuts in spending

Madam, - The country is going down the tubes, or down the Swanee, or wherever faltering economies go. It behoves us to do what we can to correct the problems now manifest.

The Government must cut expenditure and, in particular wipe out all wasteful and useless spending. Two easy items should start off the correction necessary. We should immediately abandon the decentralisation escapade and abolish the posts of Ministers of State (and their offices).

Decentralisation is costing millions and will succeed only in creating gross and costly inefficiencies in the public sector in the future. The Minister of State post is extra-constitutional and unconstitutional. These so-called "ministers" have no constitutional purpose or function. They were created by politicians for politicians' financial benefit and are not part of constitutional government.

Both these corrective actions are simple to do, would cost nothing, would save many millions immediately; and would improve efficiency. - Yours, etc,
