Madam, - The subject of the rights of human beings in the earliest stage of life is an important one which merits serious analysis and discussion. It would be most unfortunate if University College, Cork were to come to a decision to engage in research involving the termination of the lives of human beings.

No university in Ireland has previously involved itself in such lethal activity; humane values of respect for human dignity and equality should be at the heart of academic life and scientific research. - Yours, etc,
