This was the Republic of Ireland manager's reply to a question at a recent press conference about the presence of players' wives and girlfriends at their Euro 2016 training base. No, he wasn't misquoted by Emmet Malone ("O'Neill urges Ireland to keep momentum going", March 24th). Martin O'Neill actually said it on live television. Unbelievable. What is it about some high-ranking FAI people that makes some of their statements seem so cringeworthy? And Martin, please don't try to pass it off as a joke. – Yours, etc,
