Madam, - As John Waters points out (Opinion, October 11th), current attempts to understand male suicide seem to be hampered by an orthodoxy within the social sciences that requires theories on gender-related issues to be feminist.
If our Government and society was truly interested in understanding why hundreds of men kill themselves each year and wanted to reduce the incidence of such deaths, why haven't men's studies departments been set up? - Yours, etc.,
