Madam, - Mary Banotti, MEP (December 13th) states that the UNFPA does not advocate or provide abortion.
This seems rather strange to me as the UNFPA states quite categorically that it advocates and supports "reproductive health services" (advertisement in your edition of December 10th), which include abortion.
It is at best disingenous to claim that, while UNFPA provides contractives in China, it is not involved in its one-child policy or in forced abortions. Freedom of choice is not what one associates with China.
Finally, once again, why can we not provide food and health care for those in undeveloped countries instead of encouraging them to follow the path of the West, which has now led to most European countries not even replacing their population?
A proper investigation of this whole scenario would be appreciated. - Yours, etc.,
