Madam, - I have read with interest the criticism in your Letters page of the "boo boys" at Lansdowne Road last week. As one of those fans who did boo, I feel somewhat annoyed by this attitude. After all, how else can the "ordinary" fan get a message to Mick McCarthy that he has passed his sell-by date?
I clearly remember Mick McCarthy saying that the fans would tell him when it was time to quit and nobody else. Well, Mick, unless you were wearing ear plugs, I think you should have got that very message last week.
Before I am attacked as a "suit" fan, I would like to point out that I have not missed a home game of any kind in almost 20 years, including testimonials. - Yours, etc.,
