Madam, - I refer to the report in The Irish Times of February 16th that Fianna Fáil senators objected to a motion going on the Order Paper in order that a committee could investigate allegations that the United States has illegally transported prisoners through Shannon Airport.
I am appalled that members of the "Republican Party" would be so craven and cowardly in their attitude to the United States that they would put money before human rights and principles. The men who died in 1916 would be thoroughly dismayed at such behaviour.
I give credit to Senator Mary O'Rourke for being willing to set up the committee. It baffles me how we can consider ourselves neutral and aid the war effort. But in the Ireland of today monetary considerations outweigh all others. - Yours, etc,
MARGARET BRADY, Pembroke Manor, Pembroke Road, Dublin 4.
