Sir, - With reference to John J. Carroll's letter of September 14th may I point out the criticism of proposed American action against Iraq is not anti-American but anti-colonial and anti-imperial? Some questions for Mr Carroll: Was Chile better after Allende? Is Nicaragua better after American interference?
I hope Mr Carroll read Conor O'Clery's article of September 14th to which I might add that Amnesty International found that there were far more human rights abuses in Kuwait after the Iraqis left. As Mr O'Clery demonstrated, propaganda is alive and active and seemingly there is no redress for those vilified by it.
The US will be much more admired when it insists that Israel complies with UN resolutions with the same zeal as that applied to Iraq. - Yours, etc.,
Mrs MARY STEWART, Ardeskin, Donegal Town.
