Madam, - Are receipts becoming a thing of the past, at least for mail transactions?
More and more are they being ignored by money recipients. Even county councils do not issue a receipt for bin charges. It appears now to be standard practice to demand a stamped-addressed envelope if you want a receipt.
Surely it is a legality to supply a receipt as proof that an account has been settled. It should not be up to the payee to pay the expense of issuing one. - Yours, etc.,
