Madam, - My father recently returned home from convalescence at a nursing home. We have a home care provider during the day when I am at work.
I was stunned to learn that VAT is charged on private home care fees when there are none on nursing home fees.
I resent having to pay VAT of 13.5 per cent on private home care fees just to allow me to go to work and pay tax at 42 per cent.
The elderly population of Ireland would be better off if the Minister for Finance eliminated VAT on home care fees rather than funding more home care packages in his Budget next week. - Yours, etc,
