Sir, – In the week when school holidays begin, it is time for the Government to initiate a summer works programme that will provide safer classrooms in the autumn when children return to school.
UCD professor Orla Hegarty has been arguing for some months for better ventilation in buildings and that must include better ventilation in our schools.
The Minister for Education, Norma Foley, owes it to the education sector to ensure all classrooms are properly ventilated and safe for their pupils.
