Sir, - I think it is generally agreed that Martyn Turner's brilliant cartoon on the front page of last Friday's Irish Times (June 28th) was absolutely spot on. It spoke volumes.
But what on earth are we to make of Vincent Browne's article in the same issue? Obviously he is entitled to his own opinion as to what a journalist's job really is (and we, like Veronica Guerin, are entitled to disagree with him). But to say that "she was murdered very probably for reasons that had nothing to do with anything she had written or was planning to write . . ." and to leave us with this incomprehensible innuendo, seems to me the height of irresponsible journalism.
I am surprised that he would write in such a vein, but I am even more surprised that you would print it. - Yours, etc.,
