Sir, - Back when it mattered before the Maastricht Referendum, our economists were either silent or enthusiastically proEMU. Now they appear to be queuing up to tell us their reservations. Is it just that they like to criticise but never take responsibility, or did they vote "yes" without reading the Treaty?
Just for the record, I doubt if we could opt out now even if we wanted to! Or maybe our economists might tell us which of the convergence criteria we should break in order to stay out. - Yours, etc,
