Violence and gender

Madam, - I enjoyed Kevin Myers's rant of March 11th for what it was. Spurred on by Bianca Jagger's appeal against global and domestic violence towards women, he seems to retort, "What about us (men)? Who cares for us? We go to war and people (men) kill, maim, imprison and torture us. There are even women who are violent to us in our own homes."

The point is that the feminist family wants a different society where every form of life, male or female, is equally valued and protected. To reach an egalitarian, ecological way of living together, we need to question our hierarchical, corporate and military assumptions. We want to live with fewer tears. I leave the water content of the respective tears to the columnist. - Yours, etc.,
