Madam, - I recently made one of my infrequent visits to the cinema, to see the excellent film The Lives of Others. Before the film itself began I had to endure Stasi-like tortures consisting of commercials played so loud that one couldn't think. This was followed by a series of trailers for exceedingly violent films. In a way, I suppose, I should be grateful to be warned of films I certainly do not intend to see.

People complain about the violence in society today. There are no prizes for guessing where these violent ideas come from. Bring back Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse. - Yours, etc,
