Voluntary contributions and schools

A chara, – Schools will depend on voluntary contributions to provide essential school functions until the Government funds education adequately. However, if parents withdraw this funding before this happens, it would be disastrous for schools trying to make ends meet.

I agree with the sentiments expressed by Fergus Finlay (December 22nd) about the pressure this puts on parents.

No school wants to have to ask hard-pressed parents for money. However, it is, unfortunately, a necessary evil under the current conditions. – Is mise,
