Sir, - It seems that people often quote dictionary definitions when responding to letters on given topics. I feel no need to look up the definition of democracy, however, in answer to Daithi O Colcuin's call for votes for non-residents (December 28th). It would be a strange democracy indeed if Mr O Colcuin, living in Campsie, New South Wales, could vote for politicians who would decide my taxes and social welfare, not his.
