WASTE DISPOSAL, IRISH STYLE

KLAUS NEUBACHER,

KLAUS NEUBACHER,

Sir, - When my family and I were fishing in Donegal on our first visit in Ireland, we accumulated some rubbish, which we bagged. We saw a municipal workman brushing rubbish on the road at a bridge and asked him where we could put our bag. He said that there was no rubbish bank in Donegal and that we would have to take our bag home.

As we were driving away we saw that he took his rubbish, which included a yellow plastic glove, and threw it over the wall into the river. It is little wonder that your beautiful country and rivers are so dirtied by litter everywhere. Should the State or local adminstrations not deal with this problem? - Yours, etc.,

KLAUS NEUBACHER, Salzburg, Austria.
