Madam, - Every autumn local authorities around the country send thousands of tons of valuable organic material to landfill. Leaves are potential soil of the best quality, needing no preparation except moisture and air. With all the publicity about caring for our environment from the same local authorities, I am constantly amazed that this potential has not been realised before.
The heat of the decomposition of leaves mixed with sewage could also be used to generate electricity, leaving only high-quality compost. - Yours, etc.,
