Madam, – As a member of a family which uses disabled parking legally, I wish to express my outrage at Irish citizens who park illegally in disabled spaces. It is easy for these citizens to say, “I will only be a minute” or “I have a large package to collect” or, “I did not see the sign”, but this is clearly not acceptable to genuinely disabled people, who find themselves without any other means of transport.

Special needs people need extra space and time to facilitate their requirements. This means knowing with some certainty where a car-parking space will be available. Without this their mobility is severely limited. – Yours, etc,
