Madam, - While playing golf at Bantry Golf Club last Wednesday I saw four house martins flying above the 10th green. I cannot remember seeing such an early arrival of summer visitors. Perhaps this is a good omen for the local tourist industry, despite the continued absence of the Swansea-Cork ferry. Speaking for myself, it was the closest I got to a birdie all day.
